Mr. Lukas E. Schmidt

Lukas Schmidt

Lukas became fascinated with bioanalytical chemistry during his undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Salzburg. For his BSc thesis, he chose to work on a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-based metabolomics project in the Division of Chemistry and Bioanalytics. By moving on to the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Vienna, he consolidated his knowledge of biochemistry and analytical chemistry and completed the MSc Biological Chemistry programme in 2018. As a student, Lukas was eager to gain hands-on experience outside of the lecture rooms. He worked as a visiting student at LMU Munich’s Max von Pettenkofer Institute and the Mayr lab at King’s College London, where—following his Erasmus+ placement—he was appointed as a Mass Spectrometry Technician.
