Dr. Honglin Chen

My current research focuses on characterising cardiovascular disease-associated post-translational modifications in plasma proteome and proteomics method development using cutting-edge mass spectrometer. Before joining Mayr’s lab, I was trained on proteomics in my DPhil study in University of Oxford, after which I continued a one-year postdoctoral work in Centre for Virus Research in University of Glasgow to finish research project. The main scope of my past work is to study determinants of cell permissiveness to viruses using multi-level omics analysis. Through integrated analysis of transcriptomics, proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and RNA-bound proteomics between virus-permissive and -restrictive cells, I identified novel regulators of infection and supported with phenotypic validations. I also had experience in a wide range of proteomics studies, covering both “wet” and “dry” lab analyses of RNA interactome, protein interactome, ubiquitome in different species and infectious disease contexts.
